Lemon seed oil: An alternative source for the production of glycerol‐free biodiesel

نویسندگان

چکیده

The aim of this study was the evaluation two different procedures for one-pot transformation oil extracted from Citrus limon seeds to a mixture fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs) and glycerol derivatives application as potential biofuel. Lemon seed obtained by Soxhlet extraction. first procedure realized efficient irreversible transesterification in hexane lipase B Candida antarctica (Novozym 435®) using dimethyl carbonate alcohol donor. For realization second methodology an acid-catalyzed carried out, dissolving tert-butyl ether microwave tube Amberlyst®-36 dry form catalyst. Both procedures, optimized conditions, led complete conversion triglycerides give corresponding FAMEs derivatives. absence free final mixtures makes herein described considerably advantageous terms both cost sustainability since they enable performance production without requiring steps remove glycerol. These may be used energy chain exploited biofuels. © 2022 Authors. Biofuels, Bioproducts Biorefining published Society Industrial Chemistry John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

Biodiesel from Mandarin Seed Oil: A Surprising Source of Alternative Fuel

Mandarin (Citrus reticulata) is one of the most popular fruits in tropical and sub-tropical countries around the world. It contains about 22–34 seeds per fruit. This study investigated the potential of non-edible mandarin seed oil as an alternative fuel in Australia. The seeds were prepared after drying in the oven for 20 h to attain an optimum moisture content of around 13.22%. The crude oil w...

Biodiesel Production by Enzymatic Transesterification of Papaya Seed Oil and Rambutan Seed Oil

Biodiesel production from vegetable oil has gained attention as an alternative fuel to minimize the usage of fossil fuels and reduce greenhouse gases pollution. In Malaysia, oils from local fruit seeds of papaya and rambutan are potential feedstock for biodiesel production due to their high lipid contents and easily available. In the present study, papaya and rambutan seed oils were extracted v...
